Péter Magyar condemns Mi Hazánk over Roma Holocaust commemoration

A political dispute erupted in the Hungarian Parliament following a commemoration of the Roma Holocaust. During a session, members of the Tisza Party, Fidesz, and KDNP stood for a minute of silence, while six representatives from the Mi Hazánk party remained seated.

Péter Magyar criticized the Mi Hazánk members for their conduct, reading aloud the harrowing testimonies of survivors to emphasize the gravity of the event. He stated that no dialogue could occur with the Mi Hazánk representatives until they apologized for their actions.

László Toroczkai, leader of Mi Hazánk, defended the decision, claiming the commemoration was not pre-arranged and violated parliamentary rules. He argued the protest was against procedural irregularities rather than a lack of respect for the victims. Following the incident, parliamentary factions reached an agreement to ensure that subsequent sessions would begin with a properly announced joint commemoration, which was observed during the following day's proceedings.
