Péter Magyar announces dissolution of three major foundations

Péter Magyar has announced that three public interest asset management foundations will cease to exist in their current form as of August 31. The affected organizations include the Mathias Corvinus Foundation (MCC), the Batthyány Lajos Foundation, and the Kék Bolygó Foundation. The Hungarian state will take over the duties of these organizations.

Magyar stated that this decision aims to dismantle structures suitable for corruption and ensure that public funds return to public oversight. He noted that while the foundations will lose their special legal status and control over state assets, they are not prohibited from continuing their work in different forms or seeking independent support.

In related political developments, Magyar criticized the functioning of the restarted public media, noting that he has not yet received invitations to appear on its programs despite the presence of various political guests. Additionally, during a parliamentary session, Magyar addressed personal grievances regarding propaganda and allegations made by other officials before his speaking time was revoked by the session chair.
