Péter Magyar proposes major increase to family allowances
Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party, has proposed a significant increase in family allowances, suggesting a potential doubling of the benefit by 2027. During an interview on Kossuth Rádió, Magyar criticized successive governments, including both the Socialist and Fidesz administrations, for failing to raise the allowance since 2008.
Currently, the Hungarian State Treasury provides monthly support of 12,200 HUF for families with children, or 13,700 HUF for single parents. Experts note that the real value of these benefits has eroded significantly over the past two decades due to inflation.
