Péter Müller recounts his late wife's six-year disappearance
Hungarian author Péter Müller recently shared details regarding the mysterious disappearance of his late wife, Ágnes. During an appearance on the YouTube program ‘Bóta Café’, Müller recounted how Ágnes vanished for six years during the early stages of their relationship.
Müller, a recipient of the Kossuth and József Attila prizes, noted that the disappearance occurred following the 1956 revolution. He recalled being shot by a Soviet officer while heading toward her, an event that left him in critical condition. While Ágnes visited him daily in the hospital, her visits abruptly ceased without explanation.
After six years, Ágnes reappeared and proposed marriage to him, a request Müller accepted immediately. Despite their long life together, Müller stated that Ágnes never revealed the reason for her six-year absence, even toward the end of her life. She passed away in 2025 after a long illness at the age of 94 or 95.
