PTI leaders face arrests and legal actions in Pakistan

Law enforcement actions against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership have intensified, marked by the reported arrest of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. During an audio leak case hearing in an Islamabad district and sessions court, Gandapur’s lawyer stated his client had already been taken into custody, leading to the adjournment of the proceedings until November 27.

Additionally, former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister and PTI regional president Khalid Khurshid was transferred to Islamabad after being detained in Peshawar. Following his appearance in an anti-terrorism court, a judge denied police requests for physical remand and instead sent him to jail on judicial remand regarding cases related to protests on November 26.

In response to the political situation, PTI leader Shahbaz Gill criticized the party’s response to the dissolution of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. In a vlog, Gill accused suspended Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of playing a ‘double game,’ suggesting that the planned long march to Islamabad lacked genuine intent. Gill also expressed disappointment with the silence of other senior PTI leaders during the recent crackdown and the imposition of emergency measures in the province.
