PTI reaffirms Sohail Afridi as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has issued a formal notification reaffirming Sohail Afridi as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The decision carries the support of party founder Imran Khan.

The notification explicitly prohibits party members, office-bearers, and parliamentarians from convening meetings or initiating discussions regarding the nomination, replacement, or consideration of an alternative candidate for the office. It clarifies that only the founding chairman holds the authority to nominate a different candidate, and his decisions are final and binding.

This move follows speculation on social media and television regarding the provincial leadership after the imposition of governor’s rule in the province on October 11. Afridi has not been seen publicly since the federal government imposed emergency measures in the region, amid reports that he and other cabinet members were in preventive custody.
