PTI to contest Islamabad local government elections

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has announced its decision to participate in the upcoming local government elections in Islamabad. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled the polls for December 20.

PTI leadership has directed its regional, district, and town organizations to file nomination papers for every ward across all 125 union councils during the filing period of November 2 to 6. The decision follows extensive consultations with approximately 400 party office-bearers, including representatives from various wings such as the labor, youth, women, and trader groups.

Islamabad PTI President Amir Mughal stated that the decision was supported by over 95 percent of those consulted. Despite concerns regarding the electoral framework and the possibility of further postponements, the party intends to contest the elections regardless of the specific symbols allotted to its candidates.
