PTPN IV PalmCo launches 1.5 million tree planting movement

PTPN IV PalmCo has launched a large-scale initiative to plant 1.5 million trees across its operational regions, including Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. The program was officially inaugurated in Pekanbaru, Riau, on August 21, 2026.

This movement is designed to support the Indonesian government's broader environmental goal of planting 2 billion trees to aid ecological recovery and preservation. Minister of Environment Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat praised the state-owned enterprise for its commitment, noting that the company is the first in the Indonesian plantation sector to align its operations with such large-scale vegetation strengthening programs.

The planting efforts will prioritize High Conservation Value (HCV) areas, such as riverbanks, to ensure environmental sustainability alongside economic activity. The initiative aims to serve as a model for private plantation companies to follow in balancing business growth with environmental stewardship.
