Pétros ení documentary premieres at Rome Film Festival
The documentary ‘Pétros ení: Alla scoperta delle origini’ (Pétros ení: Discovering the Origins) premiered at the Rome Film Festival on October 16. The film explores the faith, history, and archaeology surrounding St. Peter's Basilica, marking the 400th anniversary of the Basilica's consecration on November 18, 1626.
The film features an appearance by Pope Leo XIV, who is currently recovering at Gemelli Hospital following surgery. Narrated by American actor Chris Pratt, the documentary was directed by Paula Ortiz and written by Andrea Tornielli. Pratt, who described the production as a personal experience that helped define his faith, noted that the film portrays Peter as an ‘imperfect man’ and a human being.
Produced by AF Films in collaboration with Vatican Media and the Fabric of St. Peter, the film's premiere included a tribute to the Pope by the audience and remarks from Dr. Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, regarding the Pope's ongoing recovery.
