PTT celebrates 186th anniversary in Turkey
The Turkish Post and Telegraph Organization (PTT AŞ) celebrated its 186th anniversary with commemorative events in Diyarbakır and Trabzon. Established on October 23, 1840, as the Posta Nezareti, the institution has expanded its services from traditional mail to include logistics, e-commerce, banking, and digital services.
In Diyarbakır, regional manager Hakan Aydoğmuş announced plans to implement the Cargo Sorting System (KAS) in the region soon to improve operational efficiency. He also highlighted the ‘PTT Everywhere’ vision, which utilizes 30 mobile vehicles strategically positioned across Turkey to provide services during natural disasters, international organizations, and at customs border gates.
In Trabzon, celebrations included a surprise for 78-year-old Fehmi Erkan, a retiree who was recognized as the 186th customer during the anniversary events. PTT Chief Manager Ali Nazıroğlu emphasized the institution's role in Turkey's communication and service infrastructure and its ongoing adaptation to technological advancements.
