PTTEP and Petronas sign 35-year gas deals in Malaysia-Thailand area

PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) subsidiaries and Petronas Carigali's PC JDA have signed a 35-year production sharing contract for Block A-18-01 within the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area. The agreement, made with the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA), grants PTTEP and PC JDA a 50% participating interest each to continue petroleum exploration, development, and production.

In addition to the production sharing contract, a gas sales agreement was signed with buyers PTT Public Company Limited and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas). Both agreements are set to take effect on January 1, 2026, and will run for 35 years.

Block A-18-01, located in the southern Gulf of Thailand, covers approximately 3,494 square kilometers. It has a natural gas production capacity of roughly 300 million to 400 million standard cubic feet per day, with output split equally between Thailand and Malaysia. The gas supplied to Thailand represents about 4% of the nation's natural gas demand and is primarily utilized for power generation in the southern region.
