Pu Mat National Park preserves rare biodiversity in Nghe An

Pu Mat National Park, located in western Nghe An province within the West Nghe An Biosphere Reserve, continues to serve as a vital sanctuary for diverse flora and fauna. The park spans over 94,000 hectares and is home to approximately 2,494 species of higher plants and nearly 1,000 animal species, many of which are rare and require prioritized conservation.

During an eight-day patrol in July, forest rangers reported a unique encounter with a red-faced langur that showed little fear of humans. Officials suggest the animal may have been previously rescued and rehabilitated or has become accustomed to the presence of forest protectors. Efforts to maintain this ecosystem involve continuous patrolling and working with local communities to promote sustainable interactions with the forest.
