Haris Ismail addresses allegations regarding religious credentials

Independent preacher Muhammad Haris Mohd. Ismail, known as PU Riz, has addressed allegations claiming he lacks the necessary credentials and academic qualifications to deliver religious lectures. During a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, Haris expressed emotional distress over being labeled a “religious rider” and having his educational background questioned.

Haris clarified that he has held a religious teaching permit (tauliah) for the Federal Territory since 2020. He also detailed his academic journey, which includes studies in Egypt, a degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM), and a recently completed Master of Islamic Studies from Open University Malaysia (OUM).

To refute the claims, he presented his academic degrees and certification documents. He noted that his credentials, including motivational speaking permits in Kelantan and teaching authorizations in Sarawak, are accessible through official platforms such as the Federal Territory Mufti Office. Haris stated that legal action is being pursued via a letter of demand to protect his reputation against what he described as extreme and defamatory statements.
