Puan municipal workers demand removal of Mayor's name from work clothing
The Association of Municipal Workers and Employees (AOEM) in Puan, Argentina, has formally demanded that Mayor Diego Reyes cease the use of his name on all clothing provided to municipal staff. The union argues that the phrase ‘Gestión Intendente Lic. Diego Reyes’ (Management of Mayor Lic. Diego Reyes) exceeds institutional identification and uses public assets for the personal promotion of the current administration.
The union has granted the municipality ten business days to identify who authorized the measure. They warned that failure to comply will result in administrative and judicial complaints before the Provincial Court of Accounts. The grievance cites violations of state neutrality principles and the Public Ethics Law, which prohibits self-promotion using state resources.
Workers have expressed dissatisfaction, stating that work clothing is a labor right rather than a political campaign tool. As of the latest reports, Mayor Reyes has not yet responded to the formal claim.
