Public art calls launched for mural projects in Mexico and Chile

Various cultural initiatives are launching calls for muralists to contribute to public art projects in Mexico and Chile.

In Playas de Rosarito, Mexico, the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC) has opened the “Rutas Mágicas de Color” call for the “Calderitas” project. Aimed at local artists, the initiative seeks to strengthen cultural identity and preserve community memory through murals in public spaces. The process includes narrative collection, conceptualization, and sketching.

In Chile, the “La Ruta del Encuentro” contest is inviting artists from across the country to participate in a project for the future Metro Line 7. The competition aims to select seven works to join a circuit of 21 large-format murals that will be located in stations connecting Renca and Vitacura. The project is designed to leave a lasting artistic legacy within the city's public transit infrastructure.
