Public health initiatives launched in Yemen and Egypt

In Yemen, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has launched a five-day training course in Aden. The program, funded by the Pandemic Prevention Fund, aims to strengthen surveillance, reporting, and rapid response systems for animal diseases and food safety. The initiative focuses on the ‘One Health’ approach to improve early detection and epidemiological investigation to prevent zoonotic diseases.

In Egypt, the Ministry of Health and Population is conducting final preparations for a national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella scheduled for October 2026. Officials from the Preventive Medicine sector visited the Sharqia Governorate to review the readiness of medical teams, supplies, and coordination efforts to ensure the campaign effectively reaches target groups across the region.
