In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, residents and local business owners are calling for stricter enforcement of waste disposal regulations. Citizens report that public spaces, including parks, sidewalks, and the Malecon, are frequently littered with food packaging and plastic bottles, particularly following periods of high tourism. Locals argue that current awareness campaigns are insufficient and that the accumulation of trash creates health hazards, such as foul odors and pests, while damaging the city's reputation.

Separately, in the Laraqueri market, authorities conducted inspections following reports of irregular sales. Subprefect Gilberto Alfonso Flores Medina, alongside local police, identified expired food items and medicines being sold to the public. The subprefect noted that the Pichacani Municipality has failed to issue necessary sanitary verification ordinances, leaving the prefecture to act reactively to citizen complaints rather than preventing infractions through proactive municipal oversight.
