Public libraries host community events for Library Card Sign-up Month

Public libraries in the United States are hosting various community events throughout September to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month.

In Steubenville, Ohio, the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is offering a coffee trail discount at several local coffee shops for cardholders. The library is also hosting an outdoor movie at the Historic Fort Steuben Amphitheater on September 19 and an art and craft festival at Belleview Municipal Park on September 26. Additionally, a book discussion regarding ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ featuring a representative from the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra is scheduled for September 28.

In Exton, Pennsylvania, the Chester County Library is holding its fourth annual Library Card Sign-Up Fest on September 13. The event includes free library card registration, STEM activities, Makerspace projects, and a ‘Touch a Truck’ display. State Senator Carolyn Comitta will participate in a StoryWalk story time, and the library will collect book donations to support local nonprofits serving youth.
