Public officials in Esquel and Calama face transitions and political scrutiny
In Argentina, Nadia Cittanti has announced her resignation from her roles as the Director of Transport and head of the Esquel Bus Terminal. Effective October 1, Cittanti stated her departure is a personal decision driven by a desire to transition from the public sector to the private sector due to professional exhaustion. She noted that her departure is not related to the current municipal administration and emphasized that she will ensure an orderly transition of her responsibilities.
In Chile, Calama councilman César Rojas has criticized Mayor Chamorro following the dismissal of a municipal employee accused of theft. While Rojas agreed that criminal activity within the municipality is unacceptable, he accused the mayor of using the incident as a “media show” to distract from broader security failures and alleged irregularities involving high-level directors. Rojas called for equal accountability across all levels of the local government.
