Public Power Corporation (PPC/DEI) is aggressively expanding its footprint in Central and Southeast Europe through strategic acquisitions and infrastructure projects. In Poland, the company has finalized a deal with ABO Energy to acquire 17 special purpose companies, managing a portfolio of solar, wind, and storage assets with a potential capacity of up to 1.2 GW. A second phase of the ABO Energy agreement involves a 1.1 GW portfolio in Hungary, with completion expected by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Simultaneously, PPC is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop a major data center in Western Macedonia at the site of the former Agios Dimitrios power plant. The first phase of this investment is valued at approximately 2.3 billion euros. This project is expected to drive significant regional development, with energy-related works potentially creating up to 1,800 construction jobs and 700 permanent positions.

The U.S. Greece Trade & Investment Council (USGTIC) has highlighted these developments, noting that Greece presents a strategic opportunity for transatlantic investment in artificial intelligence and energy security. The convergence of large-scale data center needs and renewable energy expansion is positioning Greece as a potential digital and energy hub in Southeast Europe.
