Romania infrastructure: Regional updates on transport and utilities

Various regional infrastructure projects and administrative updates are underway across Romania. In Oradea, the Bihor County Council has opened the seventh of eight planned underground road passages at the Tudor Vladimirescu - Lăpușului intersection. The project, funded by European funds, aims to reduce traffic congestion and pollution.

In Botoșani, a local council approved 3.3 million lei for an Integrated Urban Mobility Center. This complex IT system is designed to monitor and manage traffic dynamically, with the goal of improving public transport efficiency and prioritizing alternative travel methods.

Rail infrastructure developments include a preliminary procedure launched by SRCF Craiova for the electrification of 197 km of railway lines across two lots, with an estimated value exceeding 11 million euros. Meanwhile, modernization works on the DN71 Bâldana–Târgoviște road have reached a 42% physical completion stage, with some sections expected to be operational on four lanes by late 2026.

In the utility sector, the Vaslui County Council is preparing to transfer over 14.2 million lei in investments related to water and sewage infrastructure to the municipalities of Vaslui and Bârlad. This move aims to update inventory values for projects completed between 2010 and 2024, which will eventually be handed over to the regional operator AQUAVAS SA.
