Public safety regulations face enforcement in Spain and proposed reforms in Mexico

In Salamanca, Spain, a local resident has been proposed for a 602-euro fine after being found with an 11-centimeter knife in a nightlife area. Under local and national regulations, carrying weapons in public spaces without justification—especially in leisure zones where they could be used for intimidation—can result in fines ranging from 601 to 30,000 euros and the seizure of the weapon.

In Mexico, Deputy Claudia Gabriela Salas Rodríguez has proposed a reform to the Law of Roads, Bridges, and Federal Motor Transport. The initiative seeks to penalize federal transport vehicles equipped with dangerous exterior attachments, such as spikes, blades, or protruding elements that could cause injury to people or other drivers. The proposed fines would range from 20 to 40 times the daily value of the Unit of Measure and Update (UMA).
