Public sector employees in Romania report low visibility of investment results

A survey of 2,169 public sector employees in Romania reveals significant skepticism regarding the effectiveness of recent public spending and investments. According to the findings, only 30.1% of respondents believe that funds spent or attracted in recent years have produced concrete results within their institutions.

The majority of participants expressed dissatisfaction, with 42.7% stating that improvements have fallen below expectations and 23.3% reporting no visible results at all. Combined, 66% of employees either see no clear impact from expenditures or find the outcomes insufficient.

Common criticisms cited by employees include questionable value in consultancy services, the creation of redundant positions, and poorly designed IT platforms. The survey focuses on employee perceptions of investment effectiveness rather than performing a formal audit of legal compliance or economic justification.
