Public sector payrolls in Argentina and livestock tax debates in Uruguay

In Argentina, the Provincial Treasury has announced the payment schedule for September salaries for state employees in Tucumán. The rollout begins with a 20% proportional payment starting September 29 for health system employees and the Provincial Housing Institute. Subsequent payments for security, central administration, and the judiciary are scheduled through early October.

In Uruguay, the Congress of Mayors has expressed support for potentially modifying or repealing the livestock tax established under Law 12.700. However, the body has conditioned any such reform on receiving sufficient and stable national compensation to ensure departmental resources are not negatively impacted. The Congress has requested detailed projections from the Ministry of Economy and Finance to understand how alternative tax structures would affect local revenue.
