Public security initiatives expand in Ñuble and Vilcún regions

Authorities in the Ñuble region of Chile are intensifying efforts to promote the ‘Denuncia Seguro *4242’ program, an anonymous reporting tool for criminal activity. Between January and September 2026, the region recorded 484 reports, an 11% increase compared to the same period the previous year. High report volumes were noted in Chillán, Coelemu, and San Carlos. Police actions linked to these reports between January and August 2026 resulted in eight procedures, 13 arrests, and the seizure of drugs, weapons, and cash.

In the Vilcún municipality, a preventive operation was conducted in the Cajón locality targeting public transport drivers. Organized by the SENDA Previene program in coordination with Carabineros de Chile, the initiative aimed to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs following requests from local residents to Mayor Katherinne Migueles Muñoz.
