Peru faces hospital infrastructure crisis and new elderly legal services
Peru faces several regional challenges regarding public services and infrastructure. Health Minister Luis Dyer Fernández described the nation's hospital infrastructure as being in a “catastrophic” state, noting that 16 hospital projects are currently stalled. These projects, involving approximately 4,500 million soles, aim to benefit four million people, though funding shortages remain a hurdle.
In the legal sector, the National Superintendency of Public Registries (Sunarp) has launched “Sunarp Contigo +60,” a national service providing legal guidance and training to elderly citizens to help protect their property rights and inheritance matters.
In Tacna, regional candidate Wilber Flores has pledged to address the long-standing abandonment of the Hipólito Unanue regional hospital and local water deficits. Meanwhile, in Paraguay, businessman Francisco Griño emphasized the strategic necessity of the Paraguay River, calling for consistent dredging and investment to maintain the waterway as a vital logistics highway.
In Argentina, the province of Misiones is deploying territorial operations to assist residents, particularly the elderly, in registering for new electricity subsidies designed to mitigate high costs during the summer season. Additionally, the UISE transport service in Argentina has expanded its coverage to 21 previously underserved neighborhoods to improve community connectivity.
