Public transit users report mistreatment and safety concerns in Paraguay and Mexico

In Paraguay, María Esther Sosa, a person with a 72% disability certification from Senadis, has reported mistreatment by drivers of the Line 11 bus service in Areguá. Sosa alleges that drivers frequently bypass her at stops and refuse to provide preferential seating despite her use of crutches. The owner of the Line 11 firm, Bene SA, declined to comment immediately. The Vice Ministry of Transport stated that if the allegations are proven, the company could face a fine of ten minimum daily wages.

In Mexico, students traveling from Cuautla to the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM) campus in Chamilpa have raised concerns regarding transit security. The complaints follow an incident involving the diversion of an Estrella Roja bus, which students claim is not an isolated event. Students are calling on both the university and the transport company to implement better safety measures for daily commuters.
