Public transport costs and service quality face criticism in Turkey

Public transportation costs are facing criticism in several Turkish cities due to recent price increases and service quality concerns. In Gaziantep, CHP Deputy Hasan Öztürkmen reported that full ticket prices rose from 39.90 TL to 45 TL, and student tickets increased from 19.90 TL to 22.30 TL. Öztürkmen noted that these increases exceed the annual inflation rate of 29.73% reported by TÜİK.

In Van, residents are expressing dissatisfaction not only with rising costs but also with the quality of service provided by minibuses. Commuters have raised concerns regarding hygiene, overcrowding during peak hours, and the failure of drivers to adhere to traffic rules and designated stops. Passengers are calling for increased inspections and better service standards to match the rising prices.
