Public transport discounts offered during holiday periods in Taiwan and Hong Kong
During the Guangfu Festival holiday, Taiwan's Highway Bureau has introduced a 15% discount on national highway bus services. Travelers who are registered members of TPASS 2.0 and the Green Transportation Service Platform can stack rewards to receive discounts of up to 43% off the original price. The Bureau has coordinated with bus operators to increase service frequency to meet passenger demand following the impact of Typhoon Rose.
In Hong Kong, MTR celebrated 'Appreciation Day' by offering a 50% fare discount for passengers using Octopus cards, Elder Octopus cards, or QR codes on designated rail and feeder bus networks. The initiative drew positive responses from citizens, including elderly commuters who noted that the reduced costs assist with the expenses of traveling between districts for work and leisure.
