Public transport fare and transfer updates in Ecuador and Colombia

In Portoviejo, Ecuador, urban transport fares will increase by 25%, rising from $0.40 to $0.50 effective August 24, 2026. Mayor Javier Pincay announced that while technical studies suggested a fare of $0.61 to cover rising costs, a negotiated rate of $0.50 was reached to mitigate the impact on users. This adjustment brings Portoviejo's fare in line with Manta.

In Bogotá, Colombia, the City Council has approved an extension of the transfer window for the TransMilenio integrated transport system. Users with personalized 'tuLlave' cards will now have 150 minutes, up from 125 minutes, to complete up to two transfers without paying an additional fare. The measure aims to provide more flexibility for passengers facing unpredictable travel times.
