Argentina implements utility and transport price hikes for November

Starting November 1, residents in Argentina will face several price increases across essential services. Electricity tariffs in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) will rise by 3.57%, while natural gas tariffs will increase by an average of 2.17% nationwide. To mitigate the impact on vulnerable households, the government is extending the Subsidios Energéticos Focalizados (SEF) program, maintaining a 200 kWh monthly subsidized consumption block for electricity and providing a total gas discount of 74.25% for eligible users.

Public transportation costs will also rise, with bus and subway fares in the AMBA region increasing by 3.9%. In the province of Buenos Aires, minimum bus fares for registered SUBE users are expected to exceed $1,260. Additionally, private school tuition in Buenos Aires province is set to increase by up to 3% in November and 3% in December, while rental contract adjustments for semiannual agreements will rise by 12.95%.

In a separate move to control inflation, the national government has issued Decree 1305/2026, postponing increases to liquid fuel and carbon dioxide taxes until December 1, 2026. This measure aims to prevent these tax updates from immediately impacting pump prices during November.
