Public transport incidents involving elderly passengers reported in Venezuela and Colombia

Separate incidents involving public transport services and elderly passengers have drawn public criticism in Venezuela and Colombia.

In Los Teques, Venezuela, a bus driver reportedly refused to assist an elderly man who lost consciousness during a trip. Passengers claimed the driver continued the regular route despite requests to divert to a medical center, and allegedly suggested leaving the man at a bus stop or on a bench instead of seeking emergency aid.

In Antioquia, Colombia, the transport company Transoriente admitted to an error after a driver refused to allow an elderly man to board a bus because he was traveling with a dog. The company stated it is reviewing internal sanctions and is attempting to locate the individual to offer apologies and supplies for the animal.
