Public transport issues reported in Heidelberg and Augsburg regions

Commuters and students in Germany are facing significant disruptions due to insufficient capacity and rail closures. In the Heidelberg area, residents reported that bus line 37 and 37E were unable to accommodate students traveling from Ziegelhausen to Bunsen-Gymnasium. The use of standard buses instead of articulated buses resulted in several children being left behind at stops, raising concerns about school attendance and the potential discontinuation of line 37 in 2027.

In the Augsburg region, the closure of the Paartalbahn line has forced passengers between Augsburg-Hochzoll and Dasing to rely on replacement bus services, significantly increasing travel times. The Augsburg Transport and Tariff Association (AVV) stated that while the situation is a heavy burden for families, the disruptions do not grant passengers a special right of termination or reimbursement for annual tickets. The AVV noted that because the basic usability of the tickets remains, passengers using the 365-euro ticket or student tickets cannot cancel them due to the rail closure.
