Public Works releases new single “Sunburn” after Hopeless Records signing

New Jersey artist Public Works, the project of songwriter Jacob Dietrich, has issued the single “Sunburn” as the first release following the act’s signing to Hopeless Records in 2026. The track originated from recollections of summer nights at the beach bar in Seaside Heights, NJ, but midway through writing it shifted to a personal account of a relationship breakup that unfolded while Dietrich recorded in Chris Freeman’s studio. Lyrically, the song references a line about “She knows the owner, she loves the DJ,” and blends pop‑punk hooks with emotionally direct storytelling. “Sunburn” is now available for streaming and marks a new chapter for Public Works under the Hopeless Records roster.
