Chilean police arrest suspect in murder of American citizen
In Vicuña, Chile, authorities have arrested a 27-year-old Venezuelan national, César Rodríguez, for the murder of Anne Alexander Gray, a 47-year-old American citizen. Gray, a well-regarded community member who taught English, was found dead in the Diaguitas sector. At the time of his arrest, Rodríguez was reportedly in possession of a butcher knife and an air pistol.
In other regional security developments, Chilean police conducted intensive operations in Aysén, resulting in 13 arrests and several migration law violations. Additionally, the PDI seized over 800 kilograms of drugs, including cannabis and cocaine, in the Metropolitan Region, an operation described by officials as a significant blow to local trafficking.
In Carahue, Rosamel Fierro was apprehended after being a fugitive since 2021. He is accused of participating in an armed robbery against forestry workers at the Aguas Blancas property.
