Publix has announced the opening date for its first location in Owensboro, Kentucky. The store at Gateway Commons is scheduled to open on Saturday, October 3rd.

In addition to the Owensboro opening, the grocery chain is expanding further in the state with a new location in Florence set to open on Wednesday, October 7th. A second Publix location is also under construction on the west side of Owensboro, though an official opening date for that site has not yet been released. These developments follow the company's initial entry into the Kentucky market with a Louisville store in 2024.
