Puccini works featured in Italian cultural exhibitions and performances

Giacomo Puccini’s operatic works are being highlighted through diverse cultural events in Italy. In Jesi, the Teatro Pergolesi is launching its 59th Traditional Lyric Season with the “Trittico,” featuring Il tabarro, Suor Angelica, and Gianni Schicchi. The production, directed by Paul Émile Fourny, is noted for its complexity, requiring a versatile cast capable of performing multiple roles across the three distinct one-act operas.

In Sicily, the Ortea Palace Hotel Sicily is hosting an exhibition titled “Tosca e i Pupi Siciliani.” The showcase features handcrafted puppets representing characters from Puccini’s Tosca, such as Floria Tosca and Baron Scarpia. Created by the Teatro dei Pupi Vaccaro Mauceri of Syracuse, these unique pieces combine traditional Sicilian puppetry with operatic themes, showcasing intricate hand-painted details and miniature costumes designed in collaboration with the Accademia Costume & Moda.
