PUCV hosts lecture on connecting scientific research to public policy

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) hosted the 8th VINCULA Master Lecture, titled ‘Research Impact Literacy’. The event focused on the necessity of connecting academic knowledge with communities and public organizations by integrating impact strategies directly into the design of research projects.

Organized by the university’s Vice-Rectorate for Research, Creation, and Innovation alongside the VINCULA platform, the gathering brought together regional authorities, university executives, researchers, and civil society representatives. The goal was to foster institutional reflection on how scientific evidence can move beyond classrooms and laboratories to address national challenges and improve quality of life.

Academic Vice-Rector María Teresa Blanco emphasized the importance of strategic alliances between higher education institutions and legislative bodies, such as the National Congress. She noted that applied research developed in universities is essential for building a more just and equitable country by influencing public policy.
