PUCV hosts regional qualifying stage for 38th National Mathematics Olympiad

Approximately 700 students from various educational institutions in Valparaíso participated in the regional qualifying stage of the 38th National Mathematics Olympiad at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV).

The competition tested students' logical-mathematical reasoning through problems involving geometry, algebra, combinatorics, and number theory. Organized by the Chilean Mathematical Society and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the event was coordinated by the PUCV Institute of Mathematics.

Radu Saghin, an academic at the Institute of Mathematics and regional coordinator for the Olympiad, noted that the number of participating students and schools has doubled compared to previous years. The final phase of the competition is scheduled to take place between October 22 and 24 in the Metropolitan Region.
