Puebla aims to double rainfed crop area to 400,000 hectares by 2027
The government of Puebla, led by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, has announced plans to significantly expand agricultural production through increased machinery and rural support. The state aims to increase rainfed planting from 200,000 hectares this year to 400,000 hectares by 2027.
To achieve this, the administration is scaling up its agricultural equipment fleet. Currently, the state possesses 1,800 units, including tractors, drones, seeders, and harvesters. The goal is to reach 2,500 units by 2027 and 4,000 units by the end of the current administration.
In addition to agricultural expansion, the state is implementing a reforestation program intended to distribute 2.09 million plants across 104 municipalities. During a recent event in Tepexi de Rodríguez, various support programs were distributed, including initiatives for rural women entrepreneurs, livestock development, and agave production, aimed at strengthening the rural economy and preventing migration from local communities.
