Puebla announces Catrineras Chautla 2026 festival

The government of Puebla has announced the second edition of the Catrineras Chautla 2026 festival, scheduled to take place from October 9 to November 2 at the Ex Hacienda de Chautla in San Salvador El Verde.

The event, part of the Festivals for Peace circuit, aims to preserve Day of the Dead traditions while boosting regional tourism. Officials project the festival will attract approximately 150,000 visitors, generating an estimated economic impact of 70 million pesos. This growth follows a significant increase in visitors to the Ex Hacienda in 2025, which saw a 126 percent rise in attendance compared to the previous year.

Activities will include contests for offerings, calaveritas, and catrinas, with prizes ranging from 10,000 to 25,000 pesos. The festival is expected to benefit local artisans, producers, and merchants in surrounding municipalities such as San Matías Tlalancaleca and Santa Rita Tlahuapan.
