Regional developments in Puebla and Colombia relief efforts
Various regional developments are reported across Mexico and Colombia. In Puebla, Mexico, the government is launching a second round of free cataract and pterygium surgeries, aiming to perform 500 procedures. Additionally, the state is planning a 1 billion peso expansion and modernization of the Huejotzingo Airport District, with 600 million pesos allocated for 2026.
Academic and social initiatives in Puebla include the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) presenting its Institute of Government and Strategic Development (ICGDE) annual report, highlighting international collaborations, and the university benefiting 5,600 students through new admission opportunities. In Colombia, the Federation of Colombian Municipalities has launched ‘Plan Padrino’ (Godfather Plan) to facilitate earthquake relief.
