Youth initiatives and awards marked across Mexico and Argentina

Various municipalities and regional governments in Mexico and Argentina are holding events and launching initiatives to mark International Youth Day.

In Mexico, several cities are recognizing youth achievement through awards. Huixquilucan has opened a call for its Municipal Youth Prize 2026, offering 20,000 pesos to winners in academic, artistic, and social categories. San Luis Potosí has also held ceremonies to honor youth in fields such as entrepreneurship and human rights, with plans to double financial incentives in the future. Aguascalientes recognized outstanding youth and athletes, while Saltillo launched its own municipal prize to encourage local talent.

Civic and environmental engagement is also a focus. Chihuahua is preparing a large-scale youth encounter, and the city of Chihuahua's 'Acción Juvenil' is organizing a major meeting for over 1,500 participants. In Mexico City, the 'Juventudes por el Clima' initiative was launched to support youth-led environmental projects with potential micro-grants. Additionally, Chihuahua's Hermosillo government is offering science and technology courses to help youth solve urban problems.

Cultural and social activities include a youth cabinet inauguration in Chihuahua to increase democratic participation, a mural project in Sonora honoring footballer Johan Vásquez, and community gatherings in Bella Vista, Argentina, to facilitate debate and dialogue among young leaders.
