Puebla authorities initiate legal action in animal cruelty cases

Authorities in Puebla have initiated legal proceedings against individuals accused of severe animal cruelty. In one case, a man identified as Esdras N. was linked to a process for allegedly assaulting seven dogs with kicks and a belt in the Ignacio Romero Vargas neighborhood. The state prosecutor's office (FGE) secured the animals, which are now under the care of the State DIF Animal Welfare Directorate. The judge imposed precautionary measures, including a prohibition on leaving the country and the requirement for monthly check-ins.

In a separate incident in the Enríquez Guzmán neighborhood, a man was linked to a process for the fatal stabbing of a dog. A judge denied the defendant's request for house arrest, citing risks to witnesses and neighbors who had reportedly received threats. Following this incident, animal welfare authorities rescued 22 additional dogs found in poor condition from a nearby residence. The investigation for this case is expected to continue for three months.
