Puebla authorities seize goods and detain minors in historic centre crackdown
On August 3, municipal police and National Guard units carried out an operation on Avenida Reforma in Puebla’s historic centre. Officers seized merchandise linked to members of the criminal group “28 de Octubre” and detained two minors who were allegedly trying to sell goods. The action sparked a dispute with informal vendors, who later protested demanding the release of the detainees.
The city government, led by Mayor Pepe Chedraui, has intensified inspections across the historic centre. Officials removed illegal parking devices, cleared informal vendors from Avenida Reforma and 5 Norte, and responded to citizen reports of blocked sidewalks. The measures aim to restore public spaces, improve pedestrian and vehicular mobility, and enforce urban order.
