Puebla children receive free glasses in government visual health campaign

The Secretaría de Bienestar’s volunteer program, together with the Fundación CLISA, held a three‑day visual health campaign in Puebla on July 27‑29. Specialized staff performed optometric examinations for children and adolescents aged 5 to 15, identifying cases of myopia and astigmatism. As a result, 112 pairs of prescription glasses were provided at no cost, aiming to improve visual health, school performance and overall wellbeing.

Secretary of Bienestar Laura Artemisa García Chávez highlighted the initiative as a way to open clearer windows to the youngsters’ futures. The program thanked Fundación CLISA representative Gisela Martínez Ponce for supplying the lenses and frames, and noted support from Governor Alejandro Armenta and President Claudia Sheinbaum. Additional visual‑health jornadas are planned for other communities in Puebla.
