Puebla City Council to revoke alcohol licenses near schools
The Puebla City Council has announced a zero-tolerance policy regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages in close proximity to educational institutions. Under the Municipal Regulatory Code (Coremun), businesses selling alcohol are prohibited from operating within a 200-meter radius of any school.
Mayor José Chedraui Budib stated that the administration will revoke existing licenses and deny all new permit requests for establishments that fail to meet this distance requirement. He noted that previous administrations had allowed irregularities, including the granting of licenses that bypassed these legal restrictions.
The enforcement measure will impact various venues in the city center. Specifically, the Municipal Treasury has denied a relocation request for Foro Cultural Karuzo due to its proximity to the Open English language institute. Other establishments identified as being subject to these regulations include Bilderberg Taproom, Centro404 Terraza, Sufrida Bar, La Pasita 1, El Microbito, and Barra Martini.
