Puebla commemorates Carmen Serdán and Leona Vicario
The government of Puebla held a ceremony to commemorate the death anniversaries of historical figures Carmen Serdán Alatriste and Leona Vicario. The event honored the 78th anniversary of Serdán and the 184th anniversary of Vicario, recognizing their contributions to Mexico's struggle for independence and sovereignty.
Representatives from state and federal authorities, along with family members, attended the ceremony at the Casa de los Hermanos Serdán. Carmen González Serdán, state coordinator of the Casas Carmen Serdán, emphasized that honoring Serdán means maintaining her legacy of courage, justice, and social commitment, particularly as a symbol for women facing adversity.
Samuel Aguilar Pala, Secretary of Government, led the ceremony on behalf of Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier. Federal Deputy Nora Escamilla noted that the trajectories of both women serve as references for Mexican women participating in public life.
