Puebla Congress approves gender parity for police forces
The Public Security Commission of the Puebla State Congress has approved two legislative reforms aimed at strengthening security institutions and protocols within the state.
The first reform modifies Article 55 of the State Public Security Law to mandate gender parity in the recruitment of both state and municipal police forces. This initiative, presented by Deputy Andrés Iván Villegas Mendoza, seeks to ensure that the integration of security bodies reflects an equitable participation of men and women.
The second reform addresses security concerns within rehabilitation centers. Recognizing that these facilities have become critical points for public security due to potential deficiencies in control and surveillance, the commission approved changes to Article 17. These modifications aim to establish specific response protocols for security forces and foster collaboration with sanitary regulation and oversight agencies.
