Puebla Congress holds session on animal crime investigation
The Congress of Puebla held a presentation titled “Investigation Stage in Crimes Against Animals in the State of Puebla” to foster dialogue regarding the legal framework and its application for animal protection and welfare.
During the event, Deputy Beatriz Manrique Guevara reviewed the progress made in sanctioning animal crimes and strengthening legal protections in the state. She noted that prioritizing animal welfare is part of a broader effort to move away from normalizing violence in society.
Since the formal establishment of the Animal Welfare Institute in 2018, Puebla has implemented various protection actions in collaboration with civil society organizations and authorities. The session included participation from the Congressional Volunteer group, civil society organizations, and Abraham Aguilar Yáñez, head of the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Crimes Against Animals of the State Attorney General's Office of Puebla.
